The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly single vehicle crash in Waynesboro.

The Sheriff’s Office says it happened Sunday night at 10:40 pm on the 1700 Block of Idlewood Road and Highway 25. Officials say that the vehicle, a 2008 Ford F-250 appeared to have veered off the road and rolled over three times.

Burke County EMA assisted in freeing the driver who was trapped in the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver has been identified as Frank Joseph Grenella. Investigators say that Driving Too Fast for conditions, wet roadways and districted driving were contributing factors in the crash.

Sheriff Alfonzo Williams released a statement saying that “The Grenella Family are in our thoughts and prayers and we will do whatever we can to be of assistance to them as needed.”

Chief Deputy Lewis Blanchard says this is the second traffic fatality in Burke County this year.
