Structure fire at a church in Dearing

ATLANTA – Fire Investigators with Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens’ office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and the McDuffie County Fire Department have ruled an early morning fire at the United House of Prayer for All People Church, in Dearing, Ga., undetermined.

The fire, which broke out around 3 a.m. today, destroyed the church located at 3057 Ellington Airline Road, Commissioner Hudgens said. Damage was estimated at $750,000.

While fire investigators were unable to determine the exact cause of the fire, they found no evidence of foul play.


DEARING, Ga. (WJBF) – We are following some breaking news out of McDuffie County, where crews are on the scene of a structure fire.

The fire broke out just after 3:00 am at the United House of Prayer church on Ellington Airline Road in Dearing, Ga.

The pastor of the church got the call about an alarm at 3:04 am, and the fire department got the call at the same time.

No one was inside the church at the time.

When firefighters arrived on scene the fire was fully engulfed.

Two State Fire Investigators are currently on scene as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (ATF), McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office and the Fire Marshall’s Office.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause is currently unknown.
