AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)– Over 60 million people worldwide have fallen in love with the characters, the story, and the music that make Mamma Mia the ultimate feel-good party show of the season.
ABBA’s hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her birth father. Joining me now are the stars of the Augusta Players’ production of Mamma Mia, Claire Lubeck and Jamie Mulanax-Sidener.
Jamie admits the pressure is on because the music is so familiar, but she says it’s such a fun cast and she’s thrilled to be playing “Donna,” the mother to Claire’s “Sophie.”
“I’ve known Claire forever and she’s one of my daughter’s best friends so she’s at my house and everything so it’s a very natural feeling there’s not a lot of barrier when we’re acting together, so it’s been wonderful to work with her.”
And as for all that singing?
“Oh my dynamos are fantastic! So we have Joy Swanson-Ledford who’s done lots of work here and she’s done lots of Player stuff. And she is Rosie, and hilarious, absolutely hilarious. And then we have Cori Daniels, who’s playing the sultry Tanya character and she just recently did RagTime with the Augusta Players. And she’s a dance teacher at Davidson, so dance spotlights and things like that are great.”
