SC Sales Tax Holiday kicks off Friday

Back to School

South Carolina shoppers can save on clothes, computers and many more items this weekend.

The state’s annual Sales Tax Holiday starts Friday and continues through Sunday.

Back-to-school items are exempt from the state’s 6 percent sales tax and local taxes during the tax-free weekend, according to the S.C. Department of Revenue (SCDOR).

Tax-free items includes clothes, shoes, school supplies, computers and even home goods, such as bed linens and bath towels.

The SCDOR says the holiday weekend saves shoppers between $2 million and $3 million.
