WJBF NewsChannel 6’s Renetta DuBose works as Weekend Anchor and Reporter.
She joined the company in 2014 after spending the past decade working as a broadcast journalist for ABC, CBS and PBS affiliates in Illinois and Indiana.
Renetta hails from Gary, Indiana. Yes, home of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 before you ask. But now, she considers the home of another music legend, James Brown, her home too and she’s Gonna Have a Funky Good Time while here.
Renetta covers a wide range of stories with one goal in mind, “Report so the public can hear with their heart.” She was awarded Media General’s D. Tennant Bryan Award for Excellence in Journalism for her in-depth reporting on school bus issues in Richmond County. She’s also proud to have personally met and interviewed United States Vice President Mike Pence, during his time as Indiana’s Governor and the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, during his first run for the White House.
Renetta earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Butler University and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
Beyond the newsroom, Renetta enjoys serving the Lord and the people of the CSRA. She is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she sings in the choir, the Praise Team and passionately serves with prison ministry. Community service is a huge part of Renetta’s life. She volunteers with PCOS Challenge: The National Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Association, helping to raise awareness and thousands of dollars for girls and women battling the serious genetic, endocrine, metabolic and reproductive disorder that affects up to 15% of women. She is also a proud member of Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Augusta (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, National Association of Black Journalists and serves as a board member of Positively Augusta, formerly The Augusta World AIDS Day Committee. In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, baking, genealogy and being an extreme Hello Kitty collector. Renetta resides in Augusta with her “daughters” Coco Chanel and Vera Wang, two Shih Tzu dogs.
