Whether she’s keeping a close eye on the school board or presenting the news on the anchor desk, Renetta DuBose works hard to report CSRA stories so viewers can hear with their hearts.
She joined WJBF NewsChannel 6 in 2014 after spending the past decade working as a broadcast journalist for ABC, CBS and PBS affiliates in Illinois and Indiana.
While Renetta calls Gary, Indiana home, it only took a few cups of sweet tea, lots of southern hospitality and a Masters press badge to call Augusta home.
There really isn’t a story Renetta can’t cover. She was awarded Media General’s D. Tennant Bryan Award for Excellence in Journalism for her in depth reporting on school bus issues in Richmond County. She’s also proud to have personally met and interviewed United States Vice President Mike Pence, during his time as Indiana’s Governor and the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, during his first run for the White House.
Renetta earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Butler University and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
Beyond the newsroom, Renetta enjoys serving the Lord and the people of the CSRA. She is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she sings in the choir, the Praise Team and passionately serves with prison ministry. She is also a proud member of the Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists. In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, baking, genealogy and being an extreme Hello Kitty collector. Renetta resides in Augusta with her “daughter” Coco Chanel, a Shih Tzu dog.
