Barclay Bishop re-joined the WJBF NewsChannel 6 team in March 2016 after spending nearly three years as morning anchor on Augusta’s NBC affiliate.
She’s been recognized by the readers of Augusta Magazine as one of the best morning anchors/reporters in its popular “Best of Augusta” issue.
Before returning to Television Park in 2013, Barclay worked for 2 years as the Public Relations Manager at Doctors Hospital of Augusta. Prior to becoming one of the most respected PR specialists in the Augusta area, Barclay spent 3 years as a News Anchor/Reporter at WJBF. Affectionately known as “BB” in the newsroom, Barclay is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and loves the Steel City, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers! She loves the warm weather in Augusta, but misses the snow up North.
Barclay began her broadcasting career in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she graduated from West Virginia University, earning her degree in Broadcast Journalism. A highlight of Barclay’s career was during her senior year of college. She covered the 2007 Virginia Tech school shooting as a student journalist and interviewed with Fox News. From there, she made her way to Augusta to begin her broadcast career.
While Barclay takes great pride in her work at the TV station, she dedicates her personal time to helping those in the CSRA through her service organization “Barclay’s Believers”. In 2015 she won the Community Involvement Award for her efforts as a candidate during the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man/Woman of the Year campaign. During the campaign, she raised more than $60,000 for the LLS Augusta Chapter. Barclay is a proud member of the Augusta Rotary Club.
