RALEIGH, N.C. -

Several North Carolina State University students had a rude awakening Sunday morning when an intruder entered their dorm rooms and stole money, sparking the university to issue a crime alert.

Police are searching for a suspect in two separate residence hall break-ins early Sunday morning.

N.C. State police said two students were awakened in their dorm room in Avent Ferry Complex sometime between 3:15 and 3:21 a.m. by a man who had entered their unlocked room and taken their wallets from a dresser

About 15 minutes later, a suspect matching the description of the first robbery entered a dorm room in Syme Hall and stole money from wallets of two students.

The suspect is described as a black male standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He is estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old with a muscular build. Police said he was wearing a two-tone black and grey long-sleeve T-shirt, black baseball cap and blue jeans.

Police said the suspect drove to the scene and left the scene in a black or dark colored Chevy HHR.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact the NCSU Police Department at (919) 515-3000 or the NCSU Investigations Division at (919) 515-2498.
