AUGUSTA, Ga. – GRU Augusta head coach Kory Thompson has added three new signees in Maggie Ashmore, Lexi Bollant, and Sonya Knebel to join the nationally-ranked Jaguar women's golf team for the approaching 2014-15 Division I golf season.
Maggie Ashmore graduated from the Heritage International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, S.C., in 2014 after lettering in both golf and softball. Ashmore was named most improved for golf in 2010-11 and 2011-12 and earned IJGA Player of the Week and All-IJGA honors during her tenure. She won a state champion for the 2010-11 season and was a runner-up for the 2011-12 season. In 2011, Ashmore won the Junior Club Champion. A National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society member, Ashmore made the headmaster's list from 2010-13 and in not yet
Lexi Bollant graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Minn., in 2014. She lettered in golf under Coach Riti Sanderson and was named All-Conference while taking home conference-medalist honors. Bollant was named All-State for all four years and was top 10 in the state for all four years at Buffalo. Most recently she won the 2014 Minnesota Women's State Amateur Four-Ball Championship and qualified for the Big I National Championship in 2013 and 2014. Bollant plans on majoring in business management at GRU Augusta.
Sonya Knebel attended Werdenfels-Gymnasium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany and graduated in 2014. She won the Bavarian Championship in 2014 for the U18 group and she took 12th at the National German Girls Championship. In 2013, Knebel finished second at the Girls State Championships for U16 and tied for 17th at the British Girls Championship after taking third at the U16 Girls State Championship. Her Bavarian team won the 2014 and 2013 German State Cup and the 2013 and 2011 Girls Team State Championship. She plans on majoring in business economics at GRU Augusta.
