Pedestrian hit, killed on NC Hwy 55 in Durham

Durham police officers are investigating a fatal accident that involved a pedestrian on N.C. Highway 55 Tuesday night.

The accident happened near Meredith Drive around 10:47 p.m. Tuesday.

Late Wednesday morning, Durham Police identified the pedestrian as Brittney Cobb of Durham. The driver in the incident has been identified as Armando Molino Patino of Durham.

Cobb was walking across N.C. 55 when she was struck by Patino's vehicle. Cobb was taken to a nearby hospital and died from her injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time but the accident remains under investigation.
