RALEIGH, N.C. -

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon was arrested for driving while impaired early Saturday in Raleigh.

Gordon was arrested near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Pasquotank Drive, according to police. Raleigh police said Gordon received a speeding citation for traveling 50 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone.

According to the citation, Gordon's blood alcohol level was .09 at the time of the arrest. Gordon admitted to drinking three mixed drinks, vodka, court documents show. Gordon had to surrender his license and can not drive in North Carolina for 30 days.

Gordon is due in court August 26.

It is not clear why Gordon was in Raleigh. He posted photos to an Instagram account four days ago of himself at RDU International Airport. He wrote he needed to get out of Miami with the photos.

Haydn Patrick "Fats" Thomas posted a $500 bond for Gordon, according to court documents.

In 2013, Thomas rented out a vehicle to former UNC basketball player P.J. Hairston. Hairston was arrested June 5, 2013 in Durham in a vehicle from Thomas along with Elizabeth City State basketball player Miykael Faulcon and former college basketball player Carlos Sanford. All three were charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession. The charges against Hairston were later dismissed.

Gordon pleaded not guilty to a speeding ticket he received May 25 in Ohio, according to WKYC. Gordon was stopped for going 74 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour. Gordon was fined $187.

Gordon is already facing a season-long suspension from the NFL after failing an offseason drug test. He was suspended two games last season for violating the league’s drug policy.

Gordon was supposed to have an appeals hearing later this month with the NFL.

He was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after catching 87 passes for 1,646 yards in 14 games.

Gordon played college football at Baylor University.

Former teammate D'Qwell Jackson tweeted "please help this kid, it's not about football anymore" in response to Gordon's arrest.
