BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) -

A Bradenton Police officer found himself on the other side of the law when he was arrested for soliciting a prostitute. Now he's out of a job.

Over the past few months, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office has been working undercover to catch prostitutes. As part of the investigation, deputies contacted both prostitutes and “johns” on websites. Once a price was set, suspects were arrested.

On June 4th, a man named Trenton Moore answered an ad. Moore was a Bradenton Police officer. Investigators say he was on his day off, and he agreed to meet a female undercover deputy at a hotel off of Cortez Road.

After agreeing to pay $100 dollars for sex, Moore was arrested.

"We made over a dozen arrests and he was just one of them," said Manatee County Sheriff’s spokesman Dave Bristow.

"You do your job and it was unfortunate that it was a law enforcement officer, but you make the arrest and you move on,” Bristow added.

Bradenton Police officials refused to comment for our story. But, an official did say that Officer Moore resigned shortly after the arrest.

Moore was a patrolman who been with the department since 2006. But, the media was not made aware of his arrest until nearly a month after the fact.

When asked why an announcement wasn’t made, Bristow responded, "Because we had an ongoing sting going on. We don't normally say that we're making an arrest when we're doing an ongoing sting. You wait until the sting is over."

After Moore’s criminal case is complete, the Bradenton Police Department plans to launch an internal investigation.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped up this sting. But they do plan other stings in the future.
