Three People Arrested In Richmond County Heroin Investigation

Augusta, GA - Three people have been arrested after search warrants were executed in a joint investigation involving the Richmond County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division and United States Drug Enforcement Administration.

The warrants were executed Wednesday at 26 Thornberry Drive, 3893 Murray Street and a storage unit at a local storage facility. All the search warrants were executed in Augusta.

During this investigation the following was seized: Approximately 9.25 ounces of black tar heroin, $23,745 in U.S. currency and three vehicles.

At this point, three arrests have been made:

Michael Vacaro Avery, 31, has been charged with VGCSA Trafficking in Heroin and VGCSA Trafficking Heroin within 1000 feet of a school (Warren Road Elementary School)
Jason Davis, 46, has been charged with VGCSA Trafficking in Heroin and VGCSA Trafficking Heroin within 1000 feet of a school
Dexter Carmell Hunter Jr., 21, has been charged with VGCSA Trafficking in Heroin and VGCSA Trafficking Heroin within 1000 feet of a school

We are told others arrests are pending.
