WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that no charges will be filed against the driver who hit a 2-year-old child in Monetta Thursday night.

An Aiken County Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells us, investigators have ruled the incident an accident.

The driver, not the child in this case have been identified.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has released more information concerning a child being hit by a vehicle in Monetta Thursday night.

A Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells us, around 9:22 p.m. Thursday night, deputies responded to 135 Drie Circle, in Monetta, for a report of a two-year-old child being struck by a vehicle.

When deputies arrived, Aiken County EMS was already on scene and treating the child.

Aiken County EMS transported the child to Aiken Regional Medical Centers for further treatment and later transported the child to Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta with non-life threatening injuries.

The spokesperson says this incident is still under investigation.

Authorities in Aiken County are investigating a hit-and-run.

According to dispatch, a child was hit by a car on private property around 9:00 p.m. Thursday night.

Investigators say the incident happened on Brian Court, off of Highway 39.

Authorities tell us that the child was taken to a local hospital.

There is no word on the child's condition, at this time.
