The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has arrested two juveniles in connection to a rash of robberies in Warrenville.
On Friday, deputies responded to a burglary call at the United States Post Office, located at 1341 Augusta Road in Warrenville. Deputies spoke to the Postmaster, who stated an unknown person entered the Post Office and stole six packages and opened seven more packages with a pair of scissors while standing in the Post Office lobby.
On Saturday, deputies responded to Harrison’s Hardware, located at 9 Harrison Road in Warrenville, after a witness saw a white male jump from the roof of the business. Deputies met with the business owner, who stated an unknown person had made entry into the business from the roof. The suspect took a .22 caliber rifle and moved items around within the store. While processing the crime scene, deputies discovered bullets lying on the floor.
A short time later, deputies were dispatched to the Dart Discount Tobacco Store, located at 1788 Augusta Road in Warrenville, for an alarm call. When deputies arrived on scene, they observed bullets in the front parking lot that were consistent with the ammunition from the Harrison Hardware burglary. Deputies also observed the front entrance locking mechanism appeared to be damaged, but no forced entry was completed. Video footage from the Dart Discount Tobacco Store showed the suspects attempting to gain entry into the business.
Investigators were able to identify two male juvenile suspects, based off of the video footage captured at the Dart Tobacco Store. Both suspects were charged with two counts of Second Degree Burglary and one count of Second Degree Attempted Burglary.
Both juveniles were transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, in Columbia. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office will be working with officials from the United States Postal Service in regards to the burglary that took place at the Warrenville Post Office.
