Augusta, GA -
The Dancing Stars Of Augusta will be held Friday night, June 6th at the Augusta Marriott Convention Center in downtown Augusta, on Reynolds Street, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
WJBF News Channel 6 is proud to be the media partner again for 2014. WJBF’s own Mary Morrison will be one of the emcees this year.
The Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be hosting the fourth annual fundraising phenomenon. This is one of Augusta’s biggest gala/parties.
Set up much like the similarly named TV show, Dancing Stars of Augusta is made up of 10 local celebrities who are paired with a professional dance partner. Each STAR dancer will be responsible for raising a minimum of $10,000 to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, learning a dance routine from a PRO Dancer from Ballroom in Motion and to perform on the night of the event in front of a live audience.
Each dollar raised count as a vote, and the prized mirror ball trophies will be awarded to the winners. The People’s Choice Award will be accepted by the dancer who raises the most individual dollars (and getting the most ‘votes’), while The Judge’s Choice Award will be given to the dancer with the highest performance score.
Celebrities will begin practicing with their professional partners in April in preparation for their live performances. Fans can review the dancer bios, keep tabs on their favorite celebrity’s progress and “vote”, ($1=1 VOTE), by visiting the Dancing Stars of Augusta website or visit our Dancing Stars of Augusta Facebook page.
The Alzheimer’s Association provides free supportive programs and services to help people with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers deal with the disease and its impact on their lives. We are successful due in large part to our generous corporate and community partners, and do not receive State or Federal funding. For additional information regarding sponsorship and tickets, please contact Karen Leonhardt at the Alzheimer’s Association, at 706-860-4599 or email@example.com.
There is still time to vote/contribute. Every vote counts towards helping local families dealing with this dreadful disease.Vote for your favorite dancer and help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association here.
