Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators have arrested Daniell Frank Simmons (aka "Donkey") and charged him with the shooting death of Curtis Lamont Carter.

Carter was shot multiple times on May 27th.

Simmons was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center and charged with Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.


Eyewitness Speaks Out About Tuesday's Deadly Shooting

Richmond County Sheriff's Investigators have identified 26-year-old Daniell Frank Simmons, aka "Donkey", as the suspect in Tuesday's deadly shooting on 2nd Avenue at Bolt Drive, in Augusta. Curtis Lemont Carter, 22, died from two gunshot wounds to the chest.

Witnesses at the scene identified Simmons as the shooter. He is wanted for murder, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Simmons is described as being a black male, 5'10" tall, weighing 170 pounds, with distinctive facial tattoos of stars and the number "3", as well as multiple upperbody and arm tattoos. His last known address is 2011 Lanier Road, in Augusta.

Simmons is considered armed and dangerous!

Anyone who comes into contact with Simmons is urged to contact any on-duty Richmond County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes of Homicide investigator, or Sergeant Paul Godden at 706-821-1045.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators have identified 22-year-old Curtis Lamont Carter, of the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive in Augusta as the victim in Tuesday's night deadly shooting.

Deputies responded to a shooting on 2nd Avenue in Augusta early Wednesday morning.

Upon deputies' arrival, they found Carter suffering from 2 gunshot wounds to his chest.

He was taken to Georgia Regents Hospital where he later died. His body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

Investigators have not named a suspect, at this time.

We will continue to follow this developing story and provide the latest information as it becomes available.

As a teenager, Carter was charged in a 2010 shooting death, but was later found not guilty.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Deputies responded to the 2100 Block of 2nd Avenue, just off Old Savannah Road.

A male victim had 2 gunshot wounds to the chest and was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The victim's name has not been released and there is no information about a suspect in the case.
