CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) - A 21-year-old Bay area man is facing a variety of charges after he lured two children into his apartment Friday night with the promise of ice cream and candy.

Christopher Anthony Lorch was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on two counts of luring or enticing a child and one count of false imprisonment.

He is being held on a bond of $51,000.

According to a Clearwater Police Department report Lorch made contact with the seven and nine-year-old victims at his apartment complex in the 1000 block of North Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. The children went into the suspect’s apartment when he told them he had candy, ice cream and some pets he wanted to show them.

Once the victims got into the unit he walked one of the children to an upstairs bedroom and locked the door. The other child ran from the building screaming for help. At least one resident called 9-1-1 and officers with CPD were dispatched to the scene.

“We are very fortunate that nothing happened to those kids,” said Clearwater Police Chief Tony Holloway.

Lorch has one prior arrest in Pinellas County. In May 2012 he was arrested by the Pinellas Park Police Department on a retail theft charge.
