Augusta, GA -
U-S Congressman John Barrow stopping in Augusta Friday to tour the Norwood V.A. Medical Center.
Congressman Barrow made the visit to get an update on what the hospital is doing to improve patient care.
In November, it was revealed that at least three deaths at the hospital were the result of delays in patient care.
This week the US Senate's Veterans Affairs committee held a hearing about similar issues at several other hospitals. Barrow says there's plenty of blame to go around for the problems at V.A. hospitals.
"We need to get to the bottom to find out what happened and hold everybody in the chain of command accountable but given a bureaucracy of the sort that we're dealing with here, it's even more important that we run all up and down the chain of command."
Late today, the undersecretary for Health Care at the Veterans Administration, A. Robert Petzel, resigned.
Petzel was grilled yesterday in that Senate hearing. He had already planned to retire this year.
