SC moves to ban powdered alcohol before it's even legal

COLUMBIA, S.C. -
South Carolina is trying to be proactive to put a ban on powdered alcohol before it even becomes legal.
An Arizona-based company introduced powdered alcohol, but federal regulators pulled the approval last month.
South carolina lawmakers are concerned about the safety of this product.
In the past the state has done similar bans on products like bath salts.
Senator Thomas Alexander says, "The evidence is simply not out there to know at this point what kind of impact this could have on the citizens and I think for the health and well being of the citizens that we're acting on their best interest."
The bill was introduced late in the legislative session, so it has little chance of passing this year.
