Augusta, GA -
Helen Blocker-Adams has a new challenge on the campaign trail...how she has handled her money in the past.
She says, like many people in Augusta, she's faced some financial issues.
During a press conference Tuesday, she addressed reports of three civil court judgements filed against her in Aiken County.
The suits date back more than a decade and involve a car loan, personal loan, and a home loan, totaling more than $74,000.
But, the question for Blocker-Adams is, should voters trust her with city finances if she has had issues with her own?
"My response is lessons learned. I mean, one of the things that I can be able to do is use my experience of either not making very good decisions and use my experience to be able to balance budgets. A lot of times, it's easier to help somebody get through something if you've been through it yourself," she said.
Blocker-Adams says she talked to the creditors and was told there were still some outstanding balances, but they were not sure of the total amount. She says, if there is any legal debt remaining, she will honor her commitment, and pay it.
