Augusta, GA -
Augusta leaders still debating on how to spend SPLOST money on engineering and infrastructure.
The Augusta Commission Engineering Committee is debating what projects will be covered by the $50 million city leaders approved for the Augusta Engineering Department, back in February.
The SPLOST vote is next week, but Commissioners still haven't said okay to the final list for infrastructure projects. "If the voter out there sees the Commission unable to agree on how to spend that $50 million, they'll throw up their hands and say, 'I can't support this SPLOST'?" we quizzed Commissioner Bill Fennoy.
"No, because we have ten Commissioners, we have 10 different points of view...only thing we need is six Commissioners to agree and that's what we're trying to do to get six Commissioners to agree on the projects," said Fennoy.
The committee decided to use a Commission retreat to discuss the final project list, meaning the list proposed by the Engineering Department is the one voters will go by next week.
