Augusta, GA - We had our first look at Richmond County Board of Education candidate, James Swanagan, after his arrest, on Monday.

The BOE District 9 candidate appeared Monday at a bond hearing.

Swanagan is accused of beating his 29-year-old daughter, Kimberly Swanagan.

We went to his Hephzibah home, but nobody answered the door. His campaign sign sits in the front yard, just steps from where deputies say the beating happened.

According to the incident report, Swanagan held his daughter by her hair in thes driveway while beating her with a belt.

In the incident report, Swanagan admits to hitting his daughter first due to her being disrespectful to him.

It was noted in court that Swanagan was arrested in 1991 for theft.

When all was said and done, Swanagan's bond was set at $5,000 and he was told to have no contact with his daughter.

We will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as they become available.
