NEW PORT RICHEY, FL (WFLA) -

Julio Ortiz, the infamous squatter who took up residence inside a Pasco County deployed soldier’s home is now back behind bars, arrested in connection with a bank robbery.

New Port Richey Police say Ortiz was arrested, and an unnamed suspect was taken into custody after robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in the 6600 block of Massachusetts Avenue on Monday.

Neighbors were able to capture video of the getaway car and provided it to police. New Port Richey Police were able to match the getaway car to the squatters car shown in video posted to WFLA.com.

"We were able to go online and look at your news story, and saw that the car we were looking at was actually part of your story," said Lieutenant Steve Kostas with New Port Richey Police.

"We did surveillance, we saw two people get into the car," Kostas continued. "As it was backing, we converged and took two people into custody without incident."

Officers are still searching for a third man involved in the robbery, identified Wednesday as Pascual Carlos Pietri.

Police found six pit bulls inside Ortiz's new home in New Port Richey. It took three police officers and one animal control officer to secure the dogs.

It’s the latest in a string of issues for Ortiz. A week ago, Ortiz was arrested on a grand theft charge of stealing electricity at the soldier's home where he was squatting.

On Friday, Ortiz posted a $5,000 bond and went right back to the scene of the crime. The sheriff’s office was notified. When they arrived, Ortiz was found at a neighbors home and was issued a trespass warning.
