We have learned that some students are being released from Paine College, after the Monday afternoon campus shooting.

No one is being allowed to come onto the campus, though.

We are being told that Paine College's campus is still locked down after a Monday afternoon shooting on campus.

According to Jennifer Scott, with Georgia Regents University, the shooting situation at Paine College has been resolved and a person of interest is in custody. Operations at Georgia Regents Medical Center and both the campus of Georgia Regents University and the campus of Paine College may now resume as normal.

GRU spokesperson Denise Parrish tell us, they are still "open for business", and that people in need of emergency care or any medical care are still allowed to come for care.

According to information from Georgia Regents University, the search for the suspect in Monday afternoon’s shooting at Paine College is ongoing.

Officers are looking for a black male, approximately 5’8” tall, 160 pounds, wearing black jeans, a white t-shirt, a red hat, and shoes with green and white laces.

Buildings on both campuses and in the Health System are on lockdown and you should continue to stay in place.

Georgia Regents Medical Center employees who are reporting for shift change, must have their badge to enter the facility.

Georgia Regents University and Medical Center personnel who are scheduled to work this afternoon and evening need TO report to work but they MUST have their ID badges in order to enter the buildings. This information comes from GRU spokesperson Denise Parrish.

The Richmond County Sheriff's has released information on the Monday afternoon shooting on Paine College's campus.

Investigators tell us, at approximately 1:00 p.m., deputies responded to a call at Paine College, located 1235 15th Street.

Upon arrival, deputies met with several witnesses and one victim who sustained a non-life threatening injury. The victim was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center for medical treatment. The victim was alert and conscious at the scene while communicating with deputies.

Paine College is currently on lockdown. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division, Crime Suppression Team, Georgia State Patrol, along with Paine College’s Campus Police, are currently working together to clear the entire campus.

The public is asked to stand clear of the 1200 block of 15th Street for safety.

"We have been advised of a shooting at Paine College this afternoon and law enforcement is currently looking for the suspect. Pending location of the shooter, Public Safety is placing officers at campus and hospital entrances. We will keep you advised as the situation develops. Please remain in place until further notice."

Ursula E. Collins K-8 Elementary School is also on lockdown, according to the school's principal.

Sergeant Michael McDaniel, with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, tells us at least one person was shot inside a building on Paine College's campus. He also says officials are not sure, at this time, if this shooting incident is related to gunfire on the campus that happened Sunday.

We have confirmed that at least one person has been injured in the shooting at Paine College and is in a hospital emergency room.

There is no word on the victim's condition, at this time.

WJBF News Channel 6 is covering breaking news out of downtown Augusta.

We have received reports of a shooting at Paine College.

A perimeter has been set up by law enforcement, and we have confirmed the school is on lockdown.

The shooting suspect, or suspects, has not been identified or captured.

Also, a Georgia Regents University spokesperson tells us the entire Georgia Regents University Health Sciences campus, as well as Georgia Regents Medical Center and doctors' offices, are on lockdown as the hunt for the shooting suspect, or suspects, continues.

We are also being told T.W. Josey High School, Lucy C. Laney High School, Richmond Academy (ARC), the Richmond County Alternative School and Lamar-Milledge Elementary School are all on soft lockdown.

Details are limited at this time, but we have a crew on the scene.

This reported shooting comes after a gun was fired on campus Sunday.
