Columbia, SC - A major deadline today at the South Carolina Statehouse.

Bills that did not get approval from one chamber to move to another no longer have any chance of becoming law.

The bills that do not pass today will officially die because this is the end of a two-year legislative session. Several abortion bills did not make the crossover deadline this year.

But some bills that did make it include:
  • A winter holidays bill that will allow public schools to educate and celebrate traditional winter holidays.
  • An electronic data privacy bill that will require police to get a search warrant to search a cell phone.
  • And a bill that would update the state's sex education law.
