Thursday, May 1st is the 63rd Annual National Day of Prayer.
Communities across the country are hosting events, including here in the CSRA. In Augusta, Miracle Making Ministries sponsored the National Day of Prayer Mayor's Prayer Breakfast at the River Room at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
District Attorney Ashley Wright was the keynote speaker. WJBF's Jennie Montgomery was honored to serve as the emcee.
Mayor Deke Copenhaver spoke at his ninth and final National Prayer Day as mayor.
"Everything's a little bittersweet. Everything that you do for the last time is poignant to you. But I'll probably be back here next year, too."
There were more National Day of Prayer observances Thursday night at Sacred Heart Cultural Center, Beulah Grove Baptist Church and Whole Life Ministries.
