84-year-old NC man wrestles with gunman to protect his wife

Seagrove, N.C. -
Thursday night 84-year-old Neil Meisch of Seagrove, North Carolina was getting ready for bed.
Suddenly someone knocked at the door and his wife Bonnie answered it to find a man with a gun standing there demanding her car keys. She refused and said, "Like hell you’re going to get my keys," and called her husband.
Neil said, "I come running around, I seen that clown there with that rifle standing over her." His wife said, "I stepped aside and Neil busted that door open and hit that guy head first and went right out in the yard with him."
Neil is a a former military police officer and was ready to go to get lengths to protect his wife. Bonnie called 9-1-1 while the two struggled. Neil ended up with a gash in his arm that required 18 stitches.
When police arrived they told Bonnie they couldn't believe what her husband did. She told him, you should have known him when he was 24.
The gunman fled at first but ended up in an accident a little while later and was arrested,
