Augusta, GA -
The Family Y of Greater Augusta’s adapted baseball league, the Miracle League, will have its Opening Day celebration on Saturday, April 26th at the Miracle League field (located behind the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center).
The Miracle League is specifically designed for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. The Opening Day celebration will kick off their summer season, which lasts through June 14th.
“It’s time to play ball! This group of players are so fun to watch and be a part of their athletic experience”, says Rina White, Youth and Adapted Sports Director at the Wilson Family Y. “We’re excited to get another Miracle League season started”.
A meet and greet session with the players will be held at 9:00 a.m. The first game for the non-competitive league will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the first game for the competitive league will begin at 11:00 a.m.
The non-competitive league participants are paired with a “buddy” and no score is kept. The competitive league calls balls, strikes, outs and keeps score. With each league, games last four innings or one hour, depending on whichever comes first.
The end of the season exhibition game with the Augusta GreenJackets will be held on June 21st at Lake Olmstead Stadium. A time is still to be determined.
