North Augusta, SC -
The Masters has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the CSRA is done with golf altogether.
A different type of golf kicks off this week. The 8th annual National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships, held at the Hippodrome Disc Golf Complex in North Augusta, kicked off Wednesday.
Ninety-five teams, representing 60 schools from all over the U.S., are competing. That is more than double the amount of teams that competed in last year's championships, which were also held in North Augusta.
The teams are comprised of four players. The teams will play two rounds of golf, every day for the next four days.
The first round is all about which team has the most confidence.
“Clemson vs. South Carolina, Georgia vs Georgia Tech, Auburn vs. Alabama, we like to foster those rivalries and they like playing against each other and that just adds a little bit more to the first round of the day,” says Alan Kane, the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships general manager.
The tournament will continue throughout this week, with the finals on Saturday.
The public is invited to watch the tournament for free. Saturday, for the finals, they will be offering live entertainment and there will be an entrance fee of $10. For more information, you can visit NCDGC.com, or call Alan Kane at 706-840-3956.
