GreenJackets Lose 3-1 in Completed Game

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (7-5) resumed play against the Savannah Sand Gnats (8-3) at 5:30 PM Tuesday night. 

The GreenJackets led off the inning with a runner on second base and one out. With Ty Ross at bat, a passed ball allowed Leonardo Rojas to advance to third base. A single by Randy Ortiz brought in the lone run for the GreenJackets. 

The Sand Gnats rallied in the beginning of the sixth inning. On a 2-1 pitch, Gavin Cecchini hit a home run to center field. Jeff McNeil then made it to first base on a throwing error by Steven Messner. L.J. Mazzilli doubled to center field allowing McNeil to score the second run for the Sand Gnats. 

The Sand Gnats struck again in the seventh inning. Victor Cruzado was walked and then stole second base. With one out, Patrick Biondi reached first on a throwing error by Christian Arroyo. Cruzado scored off of the throwing error. 

Game two of the three-game series is scheduled to begin at 7:20 PM. It’s Service Industry Night and SweetWater’s Two-for-Tuesday. Fans can enjoy two-for-one pricing on regular Coca-Cola products and all draft beers throughout the ballpark.. GreenJackets RHP Chase Johnson (1-1, 2.45 ERA) will make the start against Savannah RHP Ricky Knapp (0-1,11.57 ERA).
