One person is dead after a traffic accident in Richmond County.

Richmond County Deputies say the accident happened on the 1800 Block of McDade Road. Authorities say that the driver of a motorcycle was traveling westbound on McDade Road, and a Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on McDade Road.

Officers say that the driver of the motorcycle was traveling too fast for conditions while trying to get into the eastbound lane, and that's when the driver of the motorcycle hit the Ford Mustang head-on.

Authorities say the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.
