It's that time. Individual tax returns must be postmarked or filed electronically by tonight. You can file for a 6-month deadline extension - but that must also be completed tonight.
There has been a bit of innovation on the mobile side to help with taxes -the IRS has an app for your iPhone, iPad or Android phone. There is also a wealth of knowledge on their website and also on the state websites for Georgia and South Carolina.
If you're crunched for time, there is a quick step that may help.
"Use the prior year's tax return," said Michael Salazar of Salazar CPA on Wheeler Rd. "Look to see what [your] income is, look to see if it agrees with this year's."
A lot of people do themselves a disservice by overlooking information when filing taxes, Salazar says.
Make sure to double check for student loan deductions, charity contributions and other credits.
