Fleeing Driver, Others Injured During Police Chase In Clemson

PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. -

The SC Highway Patrol MAIT Team is now handling the investigation into a wreck that resulted from a police chase, Sunday.

Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon tells 7 On Your Side officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit just after midnight, Sunday.

Dixon says officers tried to stop a car traveling 74 mph in a 45 mile speed zone.

Dixon says the driver pulled off the roadway and drove away from Clemson Police. The driver then continued along Highway 76 towards Anderson, and collided with other vehicles near Highway 187.

Multiple people were taken to the hospital, including the fleeing driver.

Clemson Police is not releasing the name of the driver because no charges have been filed at this time.
