Augusta, GA -
A world famous club located in a city that welcomes the world every April, Augusta National Golf Club and Augusta, Georgia don't just co-exist. They are connected, and it starts at the top.
"We've always been interested in the success of the community at large. We have always felt obligated to be a big part of that. We are exceedingly grateful and happy that we can hold this world class event right here in Augusta, Georgia. It brings us joy," says Augusta National Golf Club and Masters chairman Billy Payne.
Brad Means, reporting: "And the chairman is not alone. Patrons will tell you that the warm fuzzy feelings that they get inside these gates, begin with experiences they encounter outside the gates."
"People are fantastic. Haven't had a negative experience yet since we've been here. Everybody treats everybody with respect," said one patron.
Whether it's traffic...
"Obviously there was a lot of traffic this morning, but there was someone on every street directing traffic. It was handled well," said a patron.
"Nothing is prettier than that place on the river. I like being able to go over there and walk down the riverside. It's really lovely," said another patron, talking about Augusta's Riverwalk.
Or grocery stores...
Everything works together to leave an Augusta impression.
"I love the Fresh Market right across from the golf course. Very nicely set up. It's a fantastic place inside," said a patron.
Welcoming the world...as much a tradition for Augustans as the tournament is for Augusta National Golf Club.
"People here very Southern, kind. Nothing like it anywhere else," said a patron.
