The Fountain Inn City Council has passes the second and final reading of a texting and driving ban Thursday night.

The City Council passed the ban as it was presented in the second reading unanimously Thursday night in Fountain Inn City Hall.

Eddie Case, a city administrator with Fountain Inn, says there were no changes from the first reading.

Fountain Inn is adopting a similar citation scale to the City of Greenville, which adopted a texting and driving ban that went into effect April 1st; $100 for the first offense, $200 for the second offense and $300 for the third offense.

The texting and driving ban will go into effect on June 1st.
