CARY, N.C. -

The Wake County Public School System announced Thursday it canceled two makeup days scheduled for June.

The school system canceled the June 13 makeup day for schools on a traditional calendar. The June 2 makeup for Leadership Academies and NCSU STEM has also been canceled.

Schools in the system that have the minimum required 1,025 hours within its existing calendar are exempt from making up time, Wake schools said.

Other schools that need to make up time to achieve 1,025 hours will work within its own schedule to regain time, the district said.

The school system said schools needing to regain time can shorten lunch periods or eliminate a non-instructional activity.
