Man Arrested Twice For Trying To Illegally Enter Augusta National Golf Club

Augusta, GA - Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a man accused of illegally trying to enter the Augusta National Golf Club Sunday night.

According to deputies, 50-year-old Joseph John Murphy tried to enter the famed golf course's property at around 8:40 p.m. Sunday.

Murphy was told that he could not enter the property. Deputies say, about ten minutes later, Murphy returned and bypassed the security guard. He was stopped by a deputy driving a marked Richmond County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle.

Murphy was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass. Deputies say the Augusta National Golf Club was not damaged in this incident.
