LAND O' LAKES, FL (WFLA) - Pasco County Animal Services officers and code enforcement officers were called to a home at 20118 Millet Lane in Land O' Lakes after receiving an anonymous phone call about a possible hoarding situation.

The caller told authorities that there were 100 animals on the property and that it was a hoarding situation.

Inspectors arrived at the home and determined that there was no hoarding situation.

"There was no smell and the animals were well cared for," said Michael Shumate, Pasco Animal Services director.

The owner, Alan Santos, told officers he was a former small dog breeder and had recently gotten out of the business.

There were 40 dogs in the home and the fenced yard contains small animals such as geese and rabbits.

There is a limit of eight animals for residential property in Pasco County. Officers say he has too many animals on the property because it is zoned residential. Santos has no record of having a license in Pasco County.

Santos has 30 days to remove the excess animals. He was not available for comment.
