CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) -
A Palm Harbor woman was arrested after police say she flipped her car, hit a power pole and then battered a firefighter in Clearwater.
According to CPD, the crash happened at the intersection of Fort Harrison Avenue and Mohawk Street around midnight Sunday. Ashley Cochran, 21, of Palm Harbor, hit several street signs and the electric pole. The car flipped over; a line from the pole fell onto the car.
According to a CPD report, officers who talked to Cochran noticed she smelled of alcohol, and she admitted she had been drinking. Police said Cochran consented to a blood draw at the scene but got angry and grabbed a firefighter-paramedic with Clearwater Fire and Rescue.
She began swinging her arm at him and yelled, "You don't know what I have been through!"
Officials subdued Cochran and took her into custody. She remains in jail on $5,000 bail on the felony battery charges.
Duke Energy crews responded to the scene to restore power for about 100 customers affected by the crash.
