CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) - A 22-year-old Clearwater man died in a high-speed motorcycle crash Sunday.

Tye Joshua Ballinger of 2550 Stag Run Blvd., Apt. 1015, was pronounced dead at the scene, Clearwater Police officials said.

The one-vehicle accident happened about 1:45 a.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of State Road 580 between Landmark Drive and Countryside High School, a Clearwater Police Department news release stated.

Ballinger was riding a 2012 Suzuki GSX R750 motorcycle west on State Road 580 when he missed the curve east of Landmark Drive, officials said. The bike crossed the median and the eastbound lanes before hitting a curb and a concrete block wall.

State Road 580 was closed for more than four hours; it reopened at 6 a.m. Sunday.
