Clearwater couple charged with child abuse

Posted: Updated:
CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) - Pinellas County sheriff's deputies arrested a Clearwater couple in connection with the sexual battery of an 8-year-old female, authorities said.

James P. Millard, 29, of 1304 Sunset Point Road, was charged with two counts of sexual battery on a child under the age of 12. Millard's wife, Jennifer faces a charge of child neglect.

Deputies said Jennifer Millard, 31, knew about the sexual battery but didn't report it to the proper authorities.

The assaults happened a few times over the past two years, a Pinellas County sheriff's news release stated.

According to the release, when interviewed by deputies Saturday, Millard said he had sexually abused the child twice.

The couple were arrested Saturday and taken to the Pinellas County Jail.
