TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A woman died Friday after she was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail on Orient Road on an outstanding warrant.

The woman’s name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin, Hillsborough County sheriff’s spokesman Larry McKinnon said in a news release.

Warrant detectives went to the woman’s house in the 8200 block of North Florida Avenue shortly after 9 a.m. Friday., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, detectives arrested her on an outstanding warrant issued by the Florida Department of Corrections for violation of probation – grand theft third degree.

The woman was cooperative and offered no resistance, the news release stated. She was escorted to the detective's vehicle and placed in the back seat without handcuffs because of a complaint she made of a previous shoulder injury.

The detectives drove the woman to the Orient Road jail and parked outside the sally port to complete the arrest affidavit, the news release stated. They soon noticed the woman appeared to have problems breathing.

The detectives pulled into the sally port and the jail nurse and paramedics were called.

Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital, where she died shortly after arrival.

Detectives in the Hillsborough sheriff’s criminal investigation division are investigating the incident. The body will be handed over to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

No foul play is suspected.
