PINELLAS PARK, FL (WFLA) -

The massive search for suspected child rapist Jesse Sawyer came to an end late Friday afternoon in Pinellas Park.

All day, officers had been trying to track him down the 33-year-old man who is accused of photographing himself having sex with three young girls in Troy, New York.

Friday morning, Pinellas Park police brought in off-duty officers to launch an intense search for Sawyer.

Then late Friday afternoon, he called Calvary Chapel and said he wanted to turn himself in.

Sgt. Adam Geissenberger with Pinellas Park police said, "It is assumed that whoever he did call, the person he called he had some type of rapport that he felt confident telling them, I want to surrender, I want to turn myself in."

Sawyer was found not far from the church in a strip mall parking lot, and his arrest happened without incident.

He's being held in the Pinellas County jail until he is extradited to New York.

Sawyer is wanted for taking sexually explicit pictures of at least three children, some of which are under the age of 5. Troy Police say his crimes are "even a lot sicker than that."

The FBI was working the case with Troy Police. A tip came in to Troy Police Thursday night from Calvary Chapel in Pinellas Park. Someone said they spotted Sawyer in the overflow lot at the church's shelter.

Pinellas Park PD quickly responded and questioned Sawyer, however he was released as the FBI could not confirm a warrant was issued for his arrest. The confirmation call from the FBI came "about 5-minutes later."

When Pinellas Park Police returned to the church, Sawyer was gone. A search was on for him ever since.

It sounds like a wild fabrication: A spitting cobra, being prepared for a dish in a restaurant in southern China, bit and killed a chef 20 minutes after its head had been chopped off.

The may look fluffy and cute, but these caterpillars are anything but. Under all that fur on the puss caterpillar are venomous bristles that break off into the skin when touched by humans and cause serious pain.
