TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - The Tampa Police Department says a bomb threat called into the police station Friday was unfounded.

Police say around 11:42 a.m., an anonymous call came into dispatch saying a bomb was placed in the men's bathroom at the Tampa PD headquarters.

A search of the building was conducted and it was determined there was no suspicious device in the building, however officers did find an unattended bag near the police department's parking garage.

TPD's Bomb Squad used its bomb robot to open the bag which was empty.

The parking garage was evacuated as a precaution and re-opened around 2:30 p.m.

The police department was not evacuated during the incident.

There is no word on the origin of the bag.
