Dog Sniffs Out Diabetes

Posted: Updated:
There's a new kid roaming the halls at a school in California... walking around on 4 feet, not 2.

Glory is not your ordinary black lab- she's a service dog for Kerstyn, a student with Type I Diabetes. The dog is trained to react when blood sugar levels spike or drop.

If they're too low, Glory will bow...  too high, she'll raise her paw.

Kerstyn says it's a learning experience for her-- and the other students.

"It's cool, because I get to share awareness and everybody gets to learn about it at the same time she is helping me."

School administrators say having Glory on campus is exciting -- and that she's been a big help in keeping Kerstyn at school.
