Aiken County, SC -
A lot of Aiken County residents are wondering when all the storm debris is going to be picked up.
Even though crews have been cleaning up for weeks, county officials say they are weeks behind Augusta. Right now, they are estimating the total cost of debris removal to be more than 8 million dollars.
Aiken County Emergency Services Director Tommy Thompson is asking people to be patient, because debris pick up could take 6 to 8 more weeks.
"When you say 100% complete, to get all the paperwork done and everything satisfied to the federal government, this may be a 6 to 12 month process."
If you still have debris in front of your house, no need to worry, crews will be doing two passes through the county.
Residents will be notified when the final pass begins.
