Augusta, GA -
Major complaints are coming to light against McDonald Transit Associates, the company operating Augusta Public Transit Department.
Two former workers went before Augusta Commissioners Monday to complain about wrongful termination and hostile work environment.
Mia Johnson was the Human Resources (H.R.) director before she quit in February. She told Commissioners she was forced out because she did not comply with inappropriate advances from the general manager.
We asked if she was planning legal action against the city’s contractor. "Yes, I'm going to pay an attorney a retainer as soon as I leave here," she said. "You are?" we asked. "Oh, I am," she said.
McDonald Transit’s general manager, Q.T. Brown, was at the Commission meeting but was not invited to speak. He declined to comment on the allegations, but said it was the first time he had heard of it.
Since the city has privatized the bus system, and the workers are employees of the company, Commissioners could take no action.
