Edgefield County, SC -
According to EdgefieldDaily.com, the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office seized and removed several horses from a Trenton, South Carolina farm.
EdgefieldDaily.com reports the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at High View Horse Farm, which is located at 545 Van Road, Saturday morning following a three-month investigation of cruelty to animals.
The investigation, which got underway in January, found 77 malnourished Arabian and Arabian mixed horses at the farm. A subsequent visit on March 11th found the same horses still at the location.
Arabian Rescue Mission Inc., from New Jersey, helped ECSO deputies with the raid, which started around 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
A local farm had been rented to take the horses to once they were seized. There were only 7 horses found, as it appears the owner had removed 70 of the horses to unknown locations between March 11th and Saturday morning.
The farm's owner, 55-year-old Stephen Zukowski, has been charged with ill treatment of animals and could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
