Augusta, GA - A woman has been taken into custody after an early Friday morning stabbing in Augusta.

We are told the stabbing happened around 3:00 a.m. on the 2300 block of Naples Drive (Barton Village subdivision), which is near Gordon Highway.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators tell us, deputies who arrived on the scene found 24-year-old Tynell Vermong suffering from a single stab wound to his chest. Investigators say Vermong's live-in girlfriend, 24-year-old Shalinda Dornise Taylor stabbed him during an argument.

Taylor was arrested and booked into the Richmond County Jail for Aggravated Assault (Family Violence) and Possession of a Knife during the Commission of a Crime. Vermong is being treated at an area hospital and is listed as being in critical but stable condition.

Investigators believe the argument may have been domestic in nature.

We will continue to follow this story and provide the latest information as it becomes available.
