Richmond County Man Facing Several Charges After High Speed Chase, Slamming Into Deputy's Car

A Richmond County man is facing several charges after leading deputies on a high speed chase and slamming into a deputy's patrol car early Thursday morning,
A Richmond County Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells us, at approximately 3:21 a.m. Thursday morning, deputies initiated a traffic stop at Steiner Avenue and Clay Street on a Dodge Avenger for running the stop sign.
The driver, identified as 52-year-old Michael Eugene Jones, of the 3500 block of Windsor Spring Road, reportedly refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued in the neighborhood around 12th Street and Wrightsboro Road. While a deputy was traveling south on Picquet Avenue assisting in the chase, the suspect vehicle pulled out of a side street without headlights or stopping for the stop sign. The front of suspect vehicle struck the front of the deputy's vehicle.
Jones was taken into custody and charged with 2 counts of Running Stop Sign, Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, DUI Drugs, Suspended License, No Headlights.
